Rhonda Muckerman

Artistic Director for Southwest Civic Winds


Rhonda L. Muckerman holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Michigan State University and a Master of Music degree in Wind Conducting from the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati, having studied under Eugene Migliaro Corporon.  She has taught instrumental and vocal music, and conducted professionally in Michigan, Ohio, Washington, and Colorado since 1986, on the college and community levels, as well as in the public schools. She currently serves as the Artistic Director of the Southwest Civic Winds and as Assistant Artistic Director of the Durango Choral Society.  Rhonda is eager to bring the great tradition of wind band composition, from the British Band classics to newer repertoire, to the Durango region and beyond. Her book Of Song and Water will be released by Morgan James Publishing in April, 2022.

Jared Wright, Artistic Director for the Civic Winds Jazz Orchestra and Assistant Director for Southwest Civic Winds


Jared Wright, a local Durango Colorado musician serves as the artistic director for the Civic Winds Jazz Orchestra and is the assistant director for the Southwest Civic Winds. Originally from northern New Mexico, he studied music education at Fort Lewis College and focuses mainly on jazz education and performance. Integrating a broad range of musical styles, including jazz, funk, blues, classical, rock, and Latin, he enjoys teaching and performing with students from all backgrounds. Jared has served as the choir director at First United Methodist Church of Durango, and currently serves as the choir director for Christ the King Lutheran Church in Durango. In addition to performing with the Southwest Civic Winds, Jared also performs regularly with many groups in the Durango and Four Corners area.
